Ryan Duff
Musical Director

Ryan Duff is a 2001 graduate of Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.  He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Choral Music Education.  He also completed a Masters Degree in Educational Administration from Southern Utah University in 2016.

Ryan has worked professionally as a singer, actor, musician, and musical director for over 20 years.  He has worked in various theme park venues nationally including work as a production singer at Cedar Point in Ohio and Busch Gardens in Virginia. Ryan worked as a Lead Production Singer with Holland America Cruise Lines for several years, performing in dozens of production shows internationally. He has also served as Musical Director for many regional theatrical productions.  In addition, Ryan starred in the principal role of Joey Vitale in “Tony & Tina’s Wedding” at the Rio Hotel, performed as a singing Gondolier at the Venetian Hotel and has performed as a featured singer and musician in many other Las Vegas & Nevada venues including Harvey’s Lake Tahoe, Caesar’s Palace and the Paris Hotel, where he starred in the “Can-Can Cabaret.”

Ryan is entering his twelfth year with the Clark County School District and his ninth as the Choir Director at Basic High School in Henderson, where he directs seven choirs and a Choir Department with over 250 students. Ryan is the Visual & Performing Arts Department Chair and is responsible for the Musical Direction of all Basic High School Musical Productions.

Ryan is a proud member of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), the Nevada Music Educators Association (NMEA) and the American Choral Director’s Associaton (ACDA).  He has served as the Chair of the CCSD Honor Choir since 2015, Chair of the CCSD Advanced Choral Festival since 2016 and serves on the Nevada All-State Choir Committee.  Mr. Duff was named NMEA’s “New Teacher of the Year” in 2012 and was a CCSD “Heart of Education” Award Recipient in 2017.  Duff’s choirs consistently receive  Superior Ratings at local and national choral festivals annually.  Ryan is a highly sought-after middle school and high school choral adjudicator and clinician here in Clark County and serves as Immediate Past-President for the Nevada Chapter of ACDA.

Laurence Sobel

A pianist, music director/arranger, and vocal coach. In Las Vegas, he has periodically played keyboard for Mamma Mia!The Lion KingThe Phat Pack, and Jersey Boys. He has performed in various venues including at the Palms, Caesar’s Palace, and the Hard Rock Hotel.

In addition, he has played at numerous cabarets and nightclubs in New York City. He has also played for national tours including “Song and Dance” and “A Funny Thing… Forum.” Laurence served for 11 years on the faculty of the American Musical & Dramatic Academy in New York City. He holds a B.A. in philosophy from Harvard University, and also studied at the Manhattan School of Music and Tanglewood.
